HERAT CITY - A woman was detained after killing her husband with a stick in the western province of Herat, officials said on Monday.

Abdul Rahman was beaten to death by his spouse due to a family dispute in the Kashk Kohna district, the police spokesman, Col. Noor Khan Nikzad, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

The woman and one of her relatives were detained in connection with the rare overnight mariticide, he said, adding that the detainees were investigated.

Last year, a woman shot dead her spouse after a verbal clash in Zaranj, the capital of southwestern Nimroz province.
