According to reports, the Independent Election Commission (IEC) provincial office in Kunduz has been closed due to security threats.
Local IEC officials in Kunduz said that the IEC office will not be reopened until security threats have not been thwarted.
In the meantime, local security officials have said dismissed that the security issues are threatening the election office in Kunduz province.
Provincial police chief, Gen. Syed Sarwar Hussaini said the IEC office in Kunduz province has been closed due to other reasons.
Gen. Hussaini rejected any security threat that has led to the closure of the IEC office in this province.
This comes as dozens of supporters of Dr. Abdullah Abdullah on Sunday participated in a demonstration and urged for the suspension of IEC Secretariat chief Ziaulhaq Amarkhil.
